Guard Your Skin From Sunburn

loading...

Sun tanning is a burning question now. Every year there are the victims who have tanned well, but not wisely, with the resulting discomfort of painful burns, and often days off from work.

Warnings are constantly given but unfortunately they are not always heeded, whereas a little care and treatment would make the holiday enjoyably free from sunburn, with attractive after effects instead of a flaming red skin.

A suntan cream is practically in dispensable for the first few occasions of your beach-going, at least until you achieve that exciting girl-of-the-tropic glow that is so alluring.

Some girls go for a lotion instead of a cream, but whatever your choice apply it carefully and smoothly to soften the rays of the sun on your sheltered winter skin.

There are many good brands of sun tan cream available, and these will protect the skin while they are promoting a delightfully tanned surface.

The first day you venture on to the beach in the sun, wear a shady beach hat and pair of sunglasses, and don't lie out on the sand after your swim. Apply your cream before you go in the water or you'll get your shoulders terribly burnt with the action of wind, sun and salt water.

Afterwards, when you have had a shower, you can put on more cream, attend to your makeup (that will protect your face from freckling and burning), and don't lie for more than ten minutes in the sun.

Take your sun-baking in gradual doses, and you'll be beautiful instead of unpleasantly burnt.

If you have a fine skin, which is apt to burn quickly, you must start getting it prepared for the hot weather right away. Cream your skin faithfully every night, to counteract the drying effect of the burning sun, and use light, fluffy creams during the day time.

Many girls prefer to use oil to promote their suntan, and if you choose this you must again take great care, because oil may merely have a "frying" action on your skin, and you will feel terribly sore and burnt in spite of the applications.

A hot bath at night before going to bed will often help in taking the "sting" out of your skin.

Your feet must be comfortable. if you are going to spend happy hours in the outdoors. Each night bathe them in warm water to which has. been added a few drops of skincare cologne. Then while the feet are still wet massage them with the hands, using a movement from the toes upwards to wards the ankle. Dry with a harsh towel, and finally spray with skincare cologne.
