If you are a fan of carbonated beverages, you sure have heard of Coke, or Coca Cola – another brand which produce this type of drink. Coke can be a very soothing drink for you during hot days of summer – but once you combine it with mint-flavored Mentos, the reaction of your body to the couple will not be a pleasant one.
Don’t try Mentos and Coke at the same time!
According to some old myths about this controversial combination, Mentos when taken along with Coke or Coca Cola will create some kind of chemiclal explosion and causing your stomach to get torn from the inside due to the explosion. However, exploding inside is just an exaggeration; the two when combined will not create anything but a small eruption of a thin layer of foam on the top of the bottle, or the cup you drink from. This eruption is believed to be caused by the small pores on the surface of the candy “allows CO2 bubbles to form with the rapidity and quantity necessary for the "jet"- or "geyser"-like nature of the effusion”.

This reaction itself is not a serious problem since the eruption is not very massive, however once this happens inside the body, the consequences are uncountable. Imagine this flow of eruption taking place inside your stomach – not a very good thing to think of. These two things will create inside your body exactly the same thing as they can create in the external environment – a layer of foam which contain a lot of CO2, potassium benzoate and aspartame, the former two leaving no positive effect to your stomach and the digesting system. Having two much CO2 in the stomach and intestine will cause you trouble digesting food and transferring it into nutritions, which is crucial to your health.
You may also lose your appetite, therefore eat less and the majority of your energy will be lost. Mentos and Coke when combined may not cause you immediate consequences, but the threat from them is lethal and can kill anyone. You won’t see the influences now, but later effects will take place gradually, and you end up having chronic diseases with your digesting system which is not a funny thing at all. So don’t try Mentos and Coke all at one time!
